FIBA Congress delegates take part in 'Bahraini Night'

Manama, May 17 (BNA): International delegations attending the 2025 FIBA Congress and Hall of Fame ceremony took part in "Bahraini Night," a cultural event showcasing the Kingdom’s rich and diverse heritage.


 

The event was attended by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee; Fatima bint Jaafar Al Sairafi, Minister of Tourism; Ayman bin Tawfiq Al Moayyed, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports; and Shaikh Saud bin Ali Al Thani, President of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).


 

The evening celebrated Bahrain’s authentic culture, featuring traditional music and folk performances representing various aspects of the local heritage, including Fjiri, recognised on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list.


 

Guests engaged with the performances in a welcoming atmosphere that added a cultural and human dimension to the global sporting event. It offered an opportunity to experience Bahraini customs and traditions in a lively and entertaining setting.


 

Visitors also enjoyed a selection of traditional Bahraini dishes, offering a well-rounded cultural experience.


 

Several international delegates commended the event’s organisation and the inviting environment that reflected Bahrain’s spirit and its position as a destination that values culture and heritage. They described "Bahraini Night" as a highlight of their visit and a source of inspiration that brings together sport and culture while further developing human connections.


 

The event was part of the efforts by the Supreme Organising Committee of the FIBA Congress to showcase Bahrain’s cultural identity to the 500 participants from 180 countries attending the region’s first FIBA Congress in the Gulf and Middle East.
