Baggage Sorting and Coding Service in Makkah Route Initiative: From Dhaka Airport to Pilgrims’ Residences in Saudi Arabia

Dhaka, May 15, 2025, SPA -- Pilgrims in Bangladesh are benefiting from a baggage sorting and coding service at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, as part of the “Makkah Route Initiative” lounge operated by the Ministry of Interior under the Pilgrim Experience Program, one of the initiatives of Saudi Vision 2030.
In cooperation with government partners, the service enables pilgrims to have their luggage delivered directly to their residences in Makkah and Madinah, in accordance with prearranged transportation and accommodation plans.
The coding process, supervised by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, takes place in the dedicated Makkah Route Terminal at the airport. A specialized team sorts and labels the luggage with detailed information, including flight data and the pilgrims’ personal and accommodation details. A matching label is placed on the passport, and pilgrims receive a card with the same information for easy reference.
This baggage coding service is a key component of the Makkah Route Initiative, which facilitates pilgrims’ journeys from their home countries by eliminating the need for baggage procedures upon arrival at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah or Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah.
