Madinah Red Crescent Mobilizes Extensive Emergency Plan for Hajj Season

Madinah, May 13, 2025, SPA -- The Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) in Madinah Region has begun implementing its operational plan for the Hajj season 1446 AH, aimed at providing urgent emergency medical services to visitors of the Prophet’s Mosque and along the roads leading to Madinah.
SRCA Madinah branch Director General Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Zahrani stated that more than 700 personnel from various specialties are participating in the plan to ensure the efficient delivery of emergency services. The plan includes the operation of 74 ambulance units across 10 operational sectors, utilizing 54 ambulances in addition to 20 rapid response teams using motorcycles, bicycles, scooters, golf carts, and specialized disaster and mass-casualty response vehicles, all equipped with the latest medical tools and technologies. The air ambulance service is also fully prepared for deployment.
Al-Zahrani noted that the plan allows for increased operational capacity at the Prophet’s Mosque and its surrounding courtyards, adjusted based on crowd density.
He also highlighted that the region’s Medical Dispatch Center handles incoming emergency reports via the 997 hotline or the “Asefne” app, which is available in nine languages. The center provides medical guidance to users and electronically routes alerts to the nearest emergency teams using the “E-Paramedic” system, enabling rapid response and hospital transport with a complete digital medical report. Incident tracking and team movements are also monitored through the Command and Control Center to ensure enhanced speed and response efficiency.
