Imam Turki Royal Reserve Marks Plant Health Day

Rafha, May 13, 2025, SPA -- The Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Nature Reserve Development Authority has celebrated the International Day of Plant Health (IDPH), observed annually on May 12, reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability, vegetation preservation, and the protection of plant biodiversity in Saudi Arabia.
As part of the observance, the authority launched a digital awareness campaign across its official platforms. The campaign highlighted the reserve’s extensive efforts in rehabilitating vegetation, propagating native plant species, and addressing threats to plant health such as overgrazing, invasive species, and ecological imbalances.
The reserve has planted more than 760,000 seedlings in recent years as part of a strategic restoration initiative to increase green cover and revive degraded habitats. Home to over 235 plant species, many of which are rare or endangered, the reserve is one of the Kingdom’s most vital natural ecosystems. The authority implements rigorous scientific programs to protect and propagate these species, ensuring their survival for future generations.
This year’s participation in IDPH aligns with the goals of the Saudi Green Initiative and Vision 2030, which prioritize the protection and sustainability of the Kingdom’s natural ecosystems.
