SFD Participates in Opening Ceremony of Muharraq Private Healthcare Center in Bahrain

Manama, May 06, 2025, SPA -- Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad participated today in the inauguration of the Muharraq Private Healthcare Center project in Bahrain. The project is funded by the SFD through a grant from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia exceeding $47 million.
The opening ceremony was attended by President of the Supreme Council of Health in Bahrain Lieutenant General Dr. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa; Minister of Works of Bahrain Engineer Ebrahim Al-Hawaj; Minister of Health of Bahrain Dr. Jalila bint Jawad Hassan; and Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Bahrain Nayef bin Bandar Al-Sudairi, along with officials from both countries.
The project aims to provide specialized medical services for patients requiring long-term hospitalization. With a capacity of more than 100 beds, the center is designed to deliver high-quality services in accordance with international healthcare standards. It is expected to improve patient access to treatment and help reduce the prevalence of chronic diseases.
The initiative reflects the deep-rooted development partnership between the Saudi Fund for Development and the Kingdom of Bahrain, which spans more than 48 years. Since 1977, the SFD has financed over 30 development projects and programs in various key sectors to support Bahrain’s infrastructure and contribute to a prosperous, sustainable future.
