Assistant Undersecretary for Sustainable Development joins UN fireside chat on accelerating development through data

Manama, Apr. 30 (BNA):  Dana Imad Hamzah, Assistant Undersecretary for Sustainable Development, participated in a ministerial fireside chat titled "Investing in Data to Accelerate Development," held during the Financing for Development Forum in New York organised by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) from April 28 - 29.

Hamzah affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to investing in data to accelerate development, while shedding light on the Kingdom’s pioneering position in digital transformation, financial inclusion and technology adoption, highlighting that the ability to exchange quality data has enabled people and businesses to design more efficient products and services, positioning data exchange as a key driver of innovation.

The Assistant Undersecretary also highlighted Bahrain’s experience in addressing data gaps, emphasising Bahrain's commitment to enhancing data monitoring and analysis, as well as developing national statistical capacity to ensure accurate and periodic tracking of data related to the sustainable development goals (SDGs), in line with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030.

The forum brought together high-level representatives from member states, international organizations, and the development community to address financing gaps, promote inclusive economic growth, and explore strategies to advance the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.  The forum also served as a key preparatory step for the upcoming Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4) which will be held in Seville, Spain from June 30-July 1st, 2025.
