Late Monk's Disciples Maintain Annual Gold Donations to Thai Reserves

BANGKOK, April 30 (TNA) - Devotees of the late revered monk Luang Ta Maha Bua Yannasampanno have reiterated their commitment to annually donating gold to Thailand's national reserves, even with high gold prices.
Bank of Thailand (BOT) Governor Sethaput Suthiwartnarueput on Wednesday received 10 kilograms of gold from the disciples, collected during the merit-making event honoring Luang Ta's legacy.
Following Luang Ta's initiative after the 1997 financial crisis, over 13,000 kilograms of gold and over 10,000 US dollars have been donated to the BOT.
Disciples affirmed their dedication to this annual contribution to the national reserves, emphasizing that these assets must remain solely as national reserves.
Governor Sethaput, nearing his retirement in September 2025, confirmed that all donated gold and funds remain securely within the BOT, crucial for financial stability and supporting the Thai baht. He will continue to oversee the donations as a disciple in the future. - 819 (TNA)
