Shura Chairman commends role of financial institutions in economic development

Manama, Apr. 23 (BNA):  Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, met with Simon Williams, Chief Economist for Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa (CEEMEA) at HSBC, to discuss economic and financial developments in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

 

The meeting was attended by Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Council, Dr. Jihad Abdullah Al Fadhel, Second Deputy Chairman, Khalid Hussain Al Maskati, Chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee.

 

Al Saleh highlighted the Council’s commitment to reviewing financial and economic legislation in line with Bahrain’s development goals and economic transformation.  He commended the contributions of financial and banking institutions in supporting national economic growth, enhancing development, and advancing Bahrain’s position as a leading regional financial centre.

 

He also expressed pride in the Kingdom’s financial and economic legislative framework, describing it as a key enabler for attracting investment and expanding commercial activity.

 

Al Maskati emphasised the importance of dialogue with economic and financial experts to enhance legislative efficiency and inform the review of laws and public policy.  He noted that such consultations deepen the committee’s understanding of economic trends and help improve the quality of legislative recommendations, aligning them with the latest financial and economic data.

 

He affirmed the committee’s dedication to adopting advanced legislative practices that support Bahrain’s transition towards financial sustainability and contribute to long-term national development.
