Al-Sudani Confirms Support For Cardinal Louis Sacco's Candidacy For The Position Of Pope

Baghdad (NINA) – Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani affirmed his support for His Beatitude Cardinal Louis Sacco to succeed the late Pope Francis. 

Al-Sudani tweeted, "We affirm our support for His Beatitude Cardinal Louis Raphael I Sacco, as the only candidate from the Middle East to succeed His Holiness the late Pope Francis (may his soul rest in peace) at the Holy See in the Vatican, given His Beatitude's local and international presence and his role in spreading peace and tolerance."

He added, "Our country, Iraq, is one of the most important places where Christians have lived in brotherhood with other religions throughout history. Today, it includes followers of all churches, as this represents love and brotherhood among believers of different religions." / End
