Baghdad hosts a meeting of the Arab Parliament's Foreign Affairs, Political Affairs and National Security Committee

Baghdad / NINA / -The Foreign, Political, and National Security Affairs Committee of the Arab Parliament held its regular meeting in Baghdad on Sunday, attended by Arab Parliament Speaker Ahmed Mohammed Al-Yamahi, who commended Iraq's hosting of the 34th Arab Summit scheduled for next month.

Al-Yamahi praised the effective role played by the Political and National Security Affairs Committee in supporting and activating Arab diplomacy, noting the Arab Parliament's openness to various regional and international parties.

He stressed the need to develop a unified parliamentary vision to combat drugs and psychotropic substances in Arab countries, as part of the committee's commitment to supporting stability and comprehensive development in all Arab countries.

The meeting reviewed a number of important issues, most notably the issue of combating drugs and psychotropic substances. Participants emphasized the importance of addressing this growing phenomenon, calling for the activation of oversight mechanisms and joint cooperation by addressing Arab parliaments to submit proposals regarding government measures to address this phenomenon.

The committee also discussed the political and security situations in Arab countries, including Syria, Sudan, Lebanon, Yemen, Libya, and Somalia./ End
