Refrigerators of LG, Samsung win top spots in U.S. review

SEOUL, March 16 (Yonhap) -- South Korean tech giants LG Electronics Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. have received stellar evaluations for their refrigerators from a U.S. consumer magazine, industry sources said Sunday.

LG refrigerators were selected as the "Best Refrigerators of 2025" in two product categories chosen by Consumer Reports, according to the sources.

In a separate fridge model category, Samsung ranked No. 1, followed by LG.

The evaluation was based on temperature control, temperature uniformity and energy efficiency, as well as a customer survey, on hundreds of refrigerator models available in the U.S. market.

Samsung, LG and other South Korean brands have a significant presence in the U.S. refrigerator market, with their market share reaching nearly 50 percent.

In an earlier evaluation by the U.S. magazine, LG and Samsung ranked No. 1 in the washer and dryer combo categories, the sources added.
