Baghdad /NINA/- Secretary-General of the Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq Movement, Sheikh Qais al-Khazali, discussed the situation in Syria and the painful events in the coastal regions with the Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Albrus Kotrashev, on Wednesday.

The media office of the Secretary-General of the Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq Movement stated in a statement that "Secretary-General of the Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq Movement, Sheikh Qais al-Khazali, received the Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Albrus Kotrashev. During the meeting, they discussed international and regional developments, particularly the ongoing situation in Syria and the painful events taking place in the coastal regions."

The statement added that "the two sides discussed the latest developments in the war between Russia and Ukraine."

For his part, the Russian Ambassador praised "the tenth meeting of the Iraqi-Russian Committee for Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, which was attended by the Russian Minister of Energy," stressing "the importance of strengthening relations between the two countries."
