Iraq Affirms Its Keenness To Develop Economic Cooperation And Expand Cultural Cooperation With Japan

Baghdad /NINA/ - Iraq affirmed its keenness to develop economic and development cooperation and expand cultural cooperation with Japan.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Relations, Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Bahr Al-Uloom, praised, during his participation in the celebration of the Japanese Embassy in Baghdad, on the occasion of Japan's National Day, the depth of historical relations between Iraq and Japan, dating back to 1939, stressing their continuous development to reach a solid diplomatic and economic partnership.

He also appreciated the support provided by Japan to Iraq after 2003, especially through its contribution to peacekeeping operations, and the provision of financial grants and soft loans, which contributed to the implementation of 34 vital projects across the country.

The Undersecretary stressed the keenness of the Iraqi government, headed by Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, to enhance economic and development cooperation with Japan, calling on Japanese companies and institutions to expand their investments in Iraq, in line with the country's vision to achieve sustainable development.

At the end of his speech, Bahr Al-Uloom renewed Iraq's desire to expand the areas of economic, technical and cultural cooperation with Japan, in a way that enhances bilateral relations and serves the common interests of the two friendly countries. 

The ceremony was attended by a number of Iraqi ministers and officials, along with representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Baghdad, in addition to a wide participation of Iraqi businessmen and company owners. / End
