Foreign Minister attends Munich Security Conference opening

Munich, Feb. 14 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the opening of the 2025 Munich Security Conference, which commenced today with the participation of heads of state and government, foreign ministers, representatives of international organisations, and experts in international affairs.

 

The three day conference will address a range of global issues and current challenges, including the role of the United Nations in international cooperation, geopolitical shifts, climate change, global trade disputes, the war in Ukraine, the political transition in Syria, global competitiveness, and other key international matters.

 

The conference was inaugurated with a speech by His Excellency Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany, who expressed hope that the Munich gathering would serve as a platform for building new relations and generating new ideas. He highlighted Germany’s commitment to being a reliable and trusted partner.

 

President Steinmeier said that Germany’s foreign policy will remain European, transatlantic, and multilateral, even during the political transition. He urged the next federal government to strengthen European unity and uphold its values, emphasising Germany’s continued support for Europe.
