United Nations Applauds Saudi Arabia for Exceptional Success of IGF Riyadh
Riyadh, December 19, 2024, SPA -- United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Li Junhua has praised Saudi Arabia's significant role in the success of the 19th global Internet Governance Forum (IGF) held in Riyadh.
During a press conference, Li commended Saudi Arabia's remarkable progress under its ambitious Vision 2030, led by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He emphasized that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has become a shining example for other nations and partners, demonstrating a strong commitment and political will toward sustainable development. This progress, he noted, inspires regional and international communities to intensify collective efforts to achieve common goals.
Li highlighted the Riyadh Declaration, which Saudi Arabia unveiled during the forum, as part of the Kingdom's efforts to leverage artificial intelligence for humanity's benefit. The Riyadh Declaration is a roadmap for enhancing international partnerships and uniting efforts to harness digital technologies.
The 19th edition of the IGF, organized annually by the United Nations, was hosted this year by Saudi Arabia at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh. Over 10,000 participants from 170 countries and more than 1,200 international speakers attended the event.
It featured over 300 specialized sessions and workshops, more than 80 pavilions, and 30 announcements aimed at addressing digital challenges and advancing the use of modern technologies to serve humanity.
