King Abdulaziz Camel Festival Boosts Economic Activity in GCC Camel Markets
Al-Sayahid, December 19, 2024, SPA -- Experts in camel auctions have highlighted that the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival has significantly bolstered the economic status of camel markets across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The festival’s ninth edition also attracts camel enthusiasts from all GCC countries. The camel auction in Al-Sayahid hosts participants from various Arab nationalities, including camel heritage enthusiasts, herders, and traders, making it a major economic hub for camel sales, accessories, feed, transportation, and relevant services tied to this global heritage.
Camel auction expert Ayed Al-Mutairi said that the auction improves annually in terms of prices, participation, and the quality and variety of camels available across all ages and colors. He stressed that the auction attracts camel lovers from the GCC countries and the broader Arab world.
Speaking to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Al-Mutairi highlighted the economic vitality of the auction, noting its profitability for both investors and camel breeders, adding that camel prices remain reasonable due to the high demand and governmental support for this indigenous Arab heritage.
Meanwhile, Haji Al-Ghaithi said that he travelled from northern Saudi Arabia, specifically from the Hail region, to participate in the festival.
Also, Mohammed Al-Subaie expressed gratitude to the festival organizers for providing all necessary services for camel breeders near grazing areas, including the availability of feed and vaccinations for their camels.
The Camel Club in Al-Sayahid has designated a dedicated camel sales area as part of the festival. This has become a focal point for enthusiasts and breeders from Saudi Arabia and the GCC. Tents and pens for camel exhibitors stretch over a five-kilometer area.
