Riyadh Season's Boxing Week Kicks off
Riyadh, December 18, 2024, SPA -- The Boxing Week events kicked off on Tuesday evening as part of Riyadh Season, featuring the showdown between Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk and British Tyson Fury. The match, to determine the undisputed heavyweight champion, is scheduled to take place this Saturday at the Kingdom Arena.
The grand reception event (Grand Arrival) was held in an electrifying atmosphere at the Boulevard Runway, one of Riyadh Season zones that opened its doors to the public on Tuesday. Present at the event was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) Advisor Turki Alalshikh.
This highly anticipated rematch follows the bout held last May; Usyk, known for his exceptional skills and speed in the ring, aims to solidify his dominance and claim all the major heavyweight belts.
Meanwhile, Tyson Fury, renowned for his extensive experience and immense physical strength, seeks to restore his honor and reclaim the championship throne.
The event will feature a series of matches between promising and seasoned champions in various weight classes.
Ukrainian Serhii Bohachuk will face British fighter Ishmael Davis in a strong middleweight clash, while British Moses Itauma will take on Australian Demsey McKean in a tough heavyweight bout.
The featherweight division will also feature an anticipated match between British boxer Peter McGrail and Welshman Rhys Edwards, while British boxer Johnny Fisher will face Dave Allen.
In another bout reflecting the fierce competition in the featherweight division, British fighter Isaac Lowe will face Scottish boxer Lee McGregor.
Ukrainian Daniel Lapin will take on British fighter Dylan Colin in a light heavyweight challenge.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Andriy Novitsky will face Mexican Edgar Ramirez in a middle-heavyweight bout.
Saudi champion Mohammed Alakel will conclude the preliminary card with a match against Columbian Joshua Ocampo in the middleweight division.
Alakel aims to establish his presence on the global stage as one of the most prominent Saudi boxers, aspiring to reach international podiums.
