Latino Night at Riyadh Season Delivers Knockout Blow with Boxing Extravaganza

Riyadh, November 17, 2024, SPA -- During the "Latino Night" event at Riyadh Season, Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez of Mexico won the WBO and WBA super middleweight titles with a unanimous decision against British boxer Chris Billam-Smith.
The showdown unfolded at The Venue in Riyadh, where Ramirez, after a slow start, surged ahead in the later rounds. Billam-Smith's defensive strategy led to an injury above his eye from the fifth round onward, resulting in a match without a clear winner but with Ramirez in the lead.
The event's undercard featured a mix of compelling matchups. Saudi Arabia's Ziyad Almaayouf and Mexico's Juan Garcia fought to a draw. Oscar Duarte of Mexico secured a unanimous decision victory over Uzbekistan's Botirzhon Akhmedov. Puerto Rico's Oscar Collazo unified the WBO and WBA featherweight titles with a knockout win against Thailand's Thammanoon Niyomtrong.
William Zepeda of Mexico won the interim WBC lightweight title with a split decision over Tevin Farmer from the United States, and Arnold Barboza Jr., also from Mexico, defeated Jose Ramirez in a super featherweight bout.
