Baku, November 13, 2024, SPA -- Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz led the Saudi delegation participating in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, currently being held in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku.
The conference, themed “In Solidarity for a Green World,” runs through November 22.
The Kingdom’s participation comes as part of its efforts to strengthen global initiatives in addressing climate-change challenges, relying on a comprehensive and practical vision aimed at reducing emissions through a wide range of technologies.
This approach is part of the Kingdom’s leading environmental initiatives, such as the "Saudi Green Initiative" and the "Middle East Green Initiative," which aim to reduce and manage emissions, promote the use of renewable energy, and increase vegetation cover, contributing to the achievement of the sustainable development goals set out in the Saudi Vision 2030.
The initiatives focus on adopting balanced and comprehensive policies that take into account the historical responsibilities of countries regarding emissions and support the right of nations to sustainable development.
Through these policies, the Kingdom emphasizes the importance of energy security as a key element in achieving economic growth and sustainability. The Kingdom also aims for investments in clean energy to encompass all renewable and traditional resources, while respecting the sovereign rights of countries to utilize their natural resources.
