Saudi Arabia Hosts Restoring Family Links Network for the Near and Middle East Regional Conference
Al-Khobar, November 11, 2024, SPA -- The Restoring Family Links Network for the Near and Middle East regional conference began today in Al-Khobar, Eastern Region, hosted by the Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The conference lasts for three days, from November 11 to 13.
This is the first time Saudi Arabia is hosting this event, which focuses on exchanging knowledge and practices, and discusses the theoretical and practical aspects of humanitarian responses to the international movement's efforts to re-establish family links for individuals separated or missing, and their families.
The conference will feature meetings among representatives of national societies, ICRC missions, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies; representatives of ICRC offices and national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies in the Near East and Middle East regions will also attend it.
The conference agenda features discussions on the Family Links Strategy 2020-2025 and beyond, the humanitarian efforts exerted by SRCA on behalf of displaced families and missing persons, and an overview of the "Shawafat" platform, which is dedicated to restoring family links.
There will also be discussions on identifying and addressing the needs of the families of the displaced and missing, as well as solutions.
Topics will also touch on protecting individuals by safeguarding their personal data, the principles, methodologies, and tools used in family links protection programs and initiatives, and the regional dynamics of the Family Links Network in the Near East and Middle East.
