On sidelines of World Bank, IMF Annual Meetings, Sustainable Development Minister meets with World Bank Vice President for Digital Transformation

Washington, Oct. 23 (BNA): Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development and Chief Executive of the Economic Development Board, met with Sangbu Kim, Vice President for Digital Transformation at the World Bank, on the sidelines of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund annual meetings in Washington, D.C.
Alkhulaif highlighted Bahrain’s key efforts in developing its digital infrastructure and its experience in driving digital transformation to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The minister also reiterated the Kingdom’s commitment to promoting technological innovation and supporting digital solutions that contribute to driving sustainable economic growth, noting Bahrain’s advancement in the 2024 UN E-Government Survey, where the Kingdom advanced 36 places. The minister said that this international achievement and the significant progress made in telecommunications infrastructure, electronic services, and human capital indicators have an important role in acclerating advancement in implementing sustainable development goals.
On his part, Kim commended Bahrain’s initiatives and efforts in developing digital government services and enhancing digital transformation. He expressed willingness to strengthen cooperation between the World Bank and the Kingdom to support technological initiatives and advance digital innovations that contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.
