Brasilia, October 22, 2024, SPA -- A Saudi delegation headed by Deputy Governor of the General Authority of Foreign Trade for International Organizations and Agreements Fareed Al-Asaly participated in the fourth meeting of the Trade and Investment Working Group (TIWG), held here on October 21-22.
Brazil holds the G20 presidency from December 1, 2023, to November 30, 2024.
The meeting discusses TIWG's priorities in 2024, including trade and sustainable development, women's participation in international trade, sustainable development in investment agreements, and reforming the World Trade Organization to boost the multilateral trading system.
During its presidency, Brazil seeks to build consensus among member states on several targeted outcomes, including summaries of priority discussions to be included as annexes in the G20 Leaders' Declaration, and non-binding G20 principles for designing and implementing voluntary measures related to sustainable development in trade.
The working group has held several meetings to discuss principles and priorities, and have G20 member states and invited countries exchange expertise and views.
The General Authority of Foreign Trade seeks to expand Saudi Arabia's international trade interests, boost its global presence, and actively participate in international and regional organizations to ensure the achievement of shared goals and sustainable development.
