Malaysia Attends China-ASEAN Expo 2024 As 'Country Of Honour'
PUTRAJAYA, Sept 24 (Bernama) -- Malaysia is participating in the 2024 China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) in Nanning, Guangxi, with the prestigious designation as 'Country of Honour.'
Transport Minister Anthony Loke has arrived in Nanning to represent the government at CAEXPO, following the successful state visit of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia to Beijing recently.
“In its 21st iteration, CAEXPO has honoured Malaysia with the prestigious title of Country of Honour, highlighting the nation’s prominent role in fostering regional trade and investment,” the Ministry of Transport (MOT) said in a statement Tuesday.
It said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim delivered his address virtually during the opening ceremony, which was officiated by China's Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang.
The Expo, which runs from Sept 24 to 28, features the Malaysia Pavilion, showcasing the participation of 150 organisations, including 10 ministries and government agencies, as well as three prominent trade associations.
MOT said the Malaysia Pavilion highlights Malaysia’s strategic sectors, including manufacturing, agriculture and technology.
The Malaysia Pavilion has already garnered significant attention, with Ding visiting the Pavilion shortly after the opening ceremony.
His visit further reflects the importance of Malaysia-China relations and the shared commitment to boosting economic collaboration in the region, according to the statement.
Loke, in the same statement, said Malaysia’s strong presence at CAEXPO underscores the country’s deep commitment to strengthening trade and investment ties with China and ASEAN.
