Diriyah Sets Guinness World Record for Largest Display of AI Assistants on Saudi National Day

Diriyah, September 24, 2024, SPA -- Diriyah made history on Saudi National Day by setting a Guinness World Record for the largest display of artificial-intelligence (AI) assistant devices. The record-breaking display, featuring over 500 Amazon Echo devices and Alexa voice assistants, was part of Diriyah's 94th Saudi National Day celebrations.
According to a news release by the Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA), the Echo devices were orchestrated to harmonize the Saudi national anthem and other patriotic songs, creating a unique and immersive experience for visitors at Bujairi Terrace in Diriyah. Guinness World Records officials were on hand to witness the extraordinary feat.
"Congratulations on achieving the Guinness World Records title for the Largest display of virtual assistant devices," said Kanzy El Defrawy, the Official Guinness World Records Senior Adjudicator. "Diriyah has consistently been at the forefront of introducing cutting-edge entertainment to the people of Saudi Arabia, and this achievement reflects your relentless drive to fuse artificial intelligence with cultural celebrations."
DGDA chief executive Jerry Inzerillo expressed his pride in the milestone, stating, "This historic moment underscores Saudi Arabia's innovative spirit and Diriyah's commitment to preserving and promoting our rich heritage and culture."
Dr. Raf Fatani, Amazon MENA's regional general manager of Alexa, added, "Our participation in their attempt to set a Guinness World Record is a celebration of our deep reverence for the Kingdom's rich culture and heritage. Through this collaboration, we weave a tapestry that intertwines artificial intelligence with the timeless threads of Saudi culture."
According to the release, the achievement was just one of the many events and activities held across Diriyah, including the historic UNESCO World Heritage Site of At-Turaif, to celebrate the 94th Saudi National Day. The festivities attracted thousands of visitors, offering a glimpse into Saudi Arabia's authentic national identity and showcasing the rich culture of the Kingdom's first capital.
