WMO: Saudi Arabia Improves Weather Forecasting, Early Warning Systems

Jeddah, September 24, 2024, SPA -- The UN World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to improve weather forecasting and early warning systems, noting the significant advancements made in meteorology.
Such developments have contributed to enhancing public safety and protecting lives and property, the WMO said.
The UN agency indicated that the interest reflects the development of weather observation stations across the Kingdom, fruitful international collaboration, and a commitment to achieving greater resilience in the face of climate change.
The WMO highlighted that the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI) is at the forefront of the Kingdom's efforts to protect the environment and climate.
It emphasized that climate data is crucial for combating desertification and enhancing water resource management, aligning with the goals of the WMO and affirming the Kingdom's commitment to international cooperation in addressing climate change challenges.
In this regard, the WMO expressed its deep appreciation for the Kingdom's role in supporting the organization, said it looks forward to continuing fruitful cooperation in the future, and wished the Kingdom ongoing development and progress across various fields.
