Talchon Hot Spring in DPRK

Pyongyang, September 16 (KCNA) -- There are many famous hot springs in the DPRK.
Talchon Hot Spring in Samchon County, South Hwanghae Province, which was registered as a natural monument, is one of the famous hot springs in the country.
The hot spring is also called Jongdal (lark) Hot Spring from a legend that this hot spring helps to heal the broken leg of a lark.
A geography book, compiled in 1481, records this hot spring.
The total amount of mineral matter of the hot spring water is 0.26 g/L, the main ions are chlorine ion, carbonic acid ion and sulfuric acid ion, and the temperature is 43~51℃.
It is efficacious for alleviating pain, soothing nerves, improving the function of autonomic nerves, promoting blood circulation, etc.
It is also good for curing chronic gastritis (hyperacidity), chronic enteritis and colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, neuralgia, peripheral neuritis, hypertensive disease and gynecopathy.
One day in December Juche 46 (1957), President Kim Il Sung visited the spa and showed great loving care, saying that it should be remodeled so that it can be widely used for the medical treatment of the people.
Sanatoriums have been renovated and tens of modern medical housing blocks built at the hot spring resort.
