stc Group Concludes Participation in GAIN Summit with Strategic Partnerships and Launch of its AI Lab

Riyadh, September 14, 2024, SPA – stc Group concluded its participation in the Global AI Summit (GAIN Summit) by signing strategic agreements with Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR), King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Huawei, the Research, Development and Innovation Authority, and SambaNova Systems. These agreements aim to accelerate the group's achievement of its strategic objectives in areas such as artificial intelligence, innovation, and digital transformation.
stc Group signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) to enhance customer services by developing cutting-edge AI-based solutions to optimize its core operations. Additionally, a strategic cooperation agreement was signed with the Research, Development and Innovation Authority to establish a specialized research center for generative AI at stc Group. This center, the first of its kind in the region, focuses on research, development, and innovation in generative AI technology. The agreement includes mechanisms to support and empower entrepreneurial projects, enhance research opportunities, and foster innovative ideas within the framework of the future economy.
stc Group also signed a cooperation agreement with Huawei in the fields of data, analytics, and artificial intelligence, with the aim of enhancing stc Group’s digital and analytical capabilities. This agreement seeks to develop network infrastructure, support data-driven decision-making with AI, and improve corporate operations.
In a related effort, stc Group signed an agreement with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) to develop collaborative research partnerships and cultivate talent and expertise in the field of generative AI.
A strategic partnership agreement was also signed with SambaNova Systems to deploy and expand the GenAI Sovereign Cloud within stc’s data centers, enhancing sovereign AI capabilities in the Kingdom’s cloud infrastructure and supporting advanced AI applications.
During the summit, stc Group participated in several panel discussions that focused on enabling companies to responsibly address AI applications. These sessions highlighted the balance between competitive advantage, resource efficiency, and ethical considerations in AI usage. They also discussed how AI can empower employees by enhancing their skills in line with labor market demands and enabling continuous learning through AI-driven innovation.
At the closing ceremony, stc Group won three awards, including recognition for its technical support and sponsorship of the summit as a digital enabler, as well as an award for its early adoption of AI ethics. Additionally, “solutions by stc,” specialized in IoT products, won an award in the innovation sponsorship category.
