Islamic Figures in South Africa Commend Saudi Arabia's Role in Promoting Values of Tolerance, Moderation
Pretoria, September 14, 2024, SPA —Several Islamic figures in the Republic of South Africa have praised the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in promoting the values of moderation, tolerance, and combating extremism, terrorism, and radicalism, noting that these efforts have contributed to achieving peaceful coexistence and fostering a culture of constructive dialogue among people of different cultures and religions.
Their remarks were made on the sidelines of the official visit of the Imam and Khatib of the Grand Mosque of Makkah Dr. Yasser Al-Dosari to South Africa.
Islamic preacher in South Africa Qarn Abdi Mohammed emphasized the significance of Dr. Al-Dosari's visit and his delivery of the Friday sermon at Dar Al-Salam Mosque in Pretoria, which drew a large congregation of over 30,000 people from various regions and provinces of South Africa. He noted that the visit had a positive impact, highlighting the affection Muslims have for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its scholars. He also stressed the significant role played by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance in supporting Islamic work through its local and international programs.
Sheikh Tahir Abdul Fattah commended the profound impact of the visit on the hearts of Muslims in South Africa, reaffirming the esteemed position of the holy lands in the hearts of Muslims worldwide.
Sheikh Yusuf Muhammad Hussein expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its significant role in serving Islam and Muslims globally. He highlighted the impactful work of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, through the religious attaché at the Saudi Embassy in South Africa, in serving Muslims, promoting wisdom in calling to Allah, and encouraging many to embrace Islam while teaching Muslim children the correct teachings of their faith.
