US, China, Japan And Russia Among 16 Countries To Join MAHA 2024
SERDANG (Selangor, Malaysia), Sept 9 (Bernama) — Exhibitors from 16 countries, including the United States, China, Japan and Russia will participate in the Malaysian Agriculture, Horticulture, and Agrotourism Exhibition (MAHA) 2024, which will be held from Sept 11 to 22 at the Malaysian Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) here.
Malaysia’s Agriculture and Food Security Minister Mohamad Sabu said other countries participating in the biennial exhibition themed "Harvesting Tomorrow, Where Dreams Blossom" include Thailand, Brunei, Indonesia and Hong Kong.
“These international exhibitors will showcase various agricultural-related products and equipment, including the latest technologies such as AI (Artificial Intelligence) and the Internet of Things (IoT).
"This is one of the highlights, and we are committed to making MAHA an attraction to encourage youth participation in agriculture by promoting it as an industry capable of generating high income," he said at a press conference after inspecting preparations for MAHA 2024 at MAEPS, which was also attended by his deputy Arthur Joseph Kurup.
Asked about the preparations for MAHA 2024, Mohamad said everything is going well, with strong cooperation from all parties involved.
"I can say that the location is 90 per cent ready to start welcoming visitors beginning this Wednesday, with the remaining two days involving 24-hour work to ensure everything is completed.
“The remaining 10 per cent of the preparations involve final touches, such as releasing fish into ponds, bringing livestock into the exhibition area, and planting sensitive plants closer to the event's opening,” he said.
Mohamad added that the ministry is working on extending public transportation services, such as the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), to facilitate visitor access, especially since the exhibition is open until 10 pm.
"With strong publicity and improved transportation, we are confident this will increase visitor turnout, especially with other attractions like light and water shows, as well as concerts by local celebrities in the evening," he said.
