Prime Minister of Mongolia Pays a Courtesy Call on President of the Russian Federation
Ulaanbaatar, September 3, 2024 /MONTSAME/. On September 3, 2024, Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai paid a courtesy call on President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, who is on an official visit to Mongolia in commemoration of the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Khalkhiin Gol.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai expressed satisfaction with the active development of relations and cooperation between the two countries. The Premier expressed commitment to enhancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership through concrete projects and programs based on political, economic, education, cultural, and humanitarian relations between the two countries. The Prime Minister also expressed his pleasure with the tangible progress of the Eg River Hydro Power Plant Project, which was discussed during the 7th Eastern Economic Forum.
The two sides reaffirmed mutual commitment to establishing an Interim Trade Agreement between Mongolia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in the near future, aiming at expanding cooperation in trade, economic, and investment sectors. The two sides concurred that the FTA would significantly boost Mongolia's exports, such as meat, leather, wool, cashmere, carpets, and cement to the EAEU market, particularly to Russia's Siberian region.
Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene also highlighted the importance of the Intergovernmental Agreement on cooperation in supplying strategically important energy and petroleum products to Mongolia, signed during the official visit of the President of the Russian Federation to Mongolia. Additionally, the two parties exchanged views on accelerating the implementation of projects of the Mongolia-Russia-China Economic Corridor, including the development of the central railway, the establishment of an eastern railway corridor, and the creation of an international tourism zone.
