President of Mongolia Khurelsukh and President of the Russian Federation Putin Hold Official Talks

Ulaanbaatar, September 3, 2024 /MONTSAME/. An official visit of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin to Mongolia is ongoing.

President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin held official talks at the State Palace.

President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa expressed his gratitude to President V.V. Putin for paying an official visit within the framework of the continued commemoration of the 85th Anniversary of the Victory of the Battle of Khalkhiin Gol, the 75th anniversary of the Mongolian-Russian Joint Venture "Ulaanbaatar Railway," and the historic centennial of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The two Heads of State discussed the current state of bilateral relations and cooperation and enriching the cooperation with economic content, particularly intensifying relations in fuel, energy, transportation, environment, culture, education, health, and humanitarian sectors.

The two Presidents commended the establishment of intergovernmental agreements on the supply of oil and petroleum products and the development of the blueprint and the budget for the expansion and renovation of the Third Thermal Power Plant during the visit.

President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa noted the progress made in the construction of the Eg River Hydro Power Plant as a result of the joint efforts of the two parties and highly valued that a joint Working Group to conduct an environmental assessment was agreed to be formed.

The parties expressed confidence that an Interim Trade Agreement between Mongolia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), expected to be concluded by the end of this year, will enhance the legal framework for trade and create new opportunities for cooperation expansion.

The two sides agreed on the importance of accelerating the establishment of the Mongolia-Russia-China Economic Corridor and commended the ongoing updates to relevant projects by the respective agencies of the three countries to meet current needs and demands.
