OIC Secretary General Leads Delegation to the 50th Council of Foreign Ministers Session in Cameroon

Jeddah, August 25, 2024, SPA -- Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha will head OIC General Secretariat delegation to the 50th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC member states, to be held in Yaoundé, Cameroon, on August 29 to 30.
The session will be held under the theme "Development of Transport and Communications Infrastructure within the OIC Framework: A Key Tool in the Fight against Poverty and Insecurity".
The session will address pressing issues, including Palestine and Jerusalem, science and technology, women, the youth and the elderly, humanitarian and economic affairs, and other issues of significance to the Islamic world.
Taha will highlight OIC's positions and efforts to address issues facing the Muslim world and the ongoing crises, particularly the increasing severity of Israeli attacks in Palestine, specifically the Gaza Strip, and the escalation of tension in the Middle East.
He will also provide an overview of the OIC initiatives, projects, and efforts undertaken since the 49th session, which took place in Nouakchott, Mauritania, in March 2023, as a follow-up to the implementation of the resolutions of the said session.
The 50th session in Yaoundé coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Republic of Cameroon's accession to the OIC, in 1974.
