CST Issues Quarterly 'GameMode' Report

Riyadh, August 22, 2024, SPA -- The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) issued its "GameMode" report for the second quarter (Q2), which compares telecommunications service providers’ performance in Saudi Arabia for the most popular online games.
The report showed an improvement in the performance of online games by 85% compared to Q2 of 2023 and announced “STC” as the winner of the Platinum Game Operator for the first half of 2024. The report also highlights the service providers’ performance for the top games in the Esports World Cup 2024, CST said in a news release.
The report showed an increase in the performance of download speeds of online games across popular gaming stores in Saudi Arabia, revealing that the performance of download speeds on STEAM reached 100% by all telecom service providers. The report stated that “Mobily” and “Salam” companies were leading on PlayStation with 100%, while “Mobily” also topped the list in XBOX with 100%.
The report found that STC and Mobily showed the highest latency performance in seven games, namely Call of Duty, EA Sports FC, Fortnite, League of Legends, Rocket League, Valorant, and HALO INFINTE. STC led in eight games, namely Mobile Legends, PUBG, Counter Strike, Dota2, STARCRAFT, PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty Mobile, and Rainbow Six Siege. Mobily was the top in both FREE FIRE and HONOR OF KINGS, while STC, Mobily and Salam were all leading in Battlefield.
The report included a series of guidelines for improving the quality of internet connection for online games, as well as home network setup and network devices efficiency guidelines. It also highlighted the steps to participate in achieving the objectives of the “GameMode” initiative by registering for a "Meqyas FTTH" device, which allows the user to know the internet performance of the most popular apps and online games. The report keeps up with the latest games and includes performance indicators in its periodic editions, which is published quarterly, as well as highlighting the efforts of telecom service providers in supporting the gaming community.
The “GameMode” initiative aims to raise competitiveness among telecom service providers to offer the best experience for gamers while raising the level of transparency in the market by publishing data and indicators’ results. It also enables investors and interested parties to view market performance indicators in Saudi Arabia.
