83 new H1N1 cases confirmed; Special track for all hospitals to detect virus patients
BANGKOK, July 2 (TNA) - Thailand confirmed 83 new cases of influenza A(H1N1) Thursday, raising the country's cumulative total to 1,556 cases, with one patient remaining in critical condition.
Deputy Public Health Minister Manit Nopamornbodhi said that 1,523 have fully recovered and were discharged, while 28 patients are still being treated in hospitals.
Mr. Manit said that one H1N1 patient in a Chonburi hospital remains in critical condition.
The deputy minister added that the Ministry of Public Health will adjust the current preventive measures against the H1N1 pandemic.
The H1N1 ‘Special Track’ will open at all hospitals, including private institutions, to rapidly facilitate patients suspected of having contracted the new virus strain.
Public Health Minister Witthaya Kaewparadai earlier said that health officials will meet on Friday to review the efficiency of the current A(H1N1) preventive measures, as two more H1N1 fatalities were confirmed Wednesday, raising the country's death toll from the new virus strain to five.
Mr. Manit said that as vulnerable persons are at risk of contracting the H1N1 virus, he urged the Thai people to take care of their health and rest enough during the coming long holiday this weekend, as a self-preventive measure against the potentially fatal virus. (TNA)
