Endangered Species Find New Home at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve

Rafha, Saudi Arabia, July 28, 2024, SPA --The Development Department at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve (ITARR) has successfully restored the components of natural wildlife to the northeastern part of Saudi Arabia by resettling, breeding, and increasing the populations of animals, birds, and reptiles in the reserve.
Upon implementation of a plan initiated over the past four years aiming to protect endangered animals such as the Arabian oryx, the sand gazelle, and the ostrich, the number of endemic animals, birds, and reptiles has significantly increased once they were released to enjoy their lives, restore their role in their environment, and reproduce on their own.
According to the plan, which is aligning with Saudi Vision 2030 and in order to achieve the Saudi Green Initiative, which aims to improve the quality of life and protect future generations, the vegetation cover in the reserve has also flourished.
With an area of 91,500 sq. km, ITARR has become richer as it accommodates diverse species, trees, plants, and seasonal and annual grasses of great importance to the balance of the ecosystem.
