Iran, New Zealander discuss issues of mutual interest
New Zealander Ambassador to Tehran Bryan Sandrez submitted a copy of his credentials to Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on Monday.
Receiving the copy, Mottaki told Sandrez, “Bilateral relations are growing thanks to efforts made by the two sides' former ambassadors and we hope that the efforts will be stepped up during the tenure of the new ambassador of New Zealand to Iran."
He referred to Iran’s ancient civilization and said, “Iranian people, enjoying a unique civilization, have shown that they always favor dialogue. Recent presidential elections too marked a record voter turnout worldwide.”
He said that in a phone conversation with his British counterpart he had said that in political relationship with Britain, Tehran has never accepted and will not accept the worthless colonialistic diplomatic norms.
Sandrez for his part said relations between Iran and New Zealand in the political and economic domains have been based on mutual interests and historical and traditional bonds.
He referred to Iran’s positive role in Afghanistan and the Middle East and said, “We can have our dialogue and consultations on the stability of Afghanistan.”
