Swedish Foreign Ministry condemns attack on Iran Embassy

London, June 30, IRNA -- Swedish Foreign Ministry on Monday expressed deep regret over attack on Iranian Embassy in Stockholm on Friday.

Officials from the Swedish Foreign Ministry attended the Iranian Embassy in Stockholm expressing outrage at an attack on the Embassy building by agents of terrorist groups.

Meanwhile Iran’s Ambassador to Sweden Rasoul Eslami called for identification and punishment of the elements involved in the attack, stressing that the act was against international laws and conventions.

The Swedish Foreign Ministry officals vowed to follow up the case and regretted that the number of security and police forces present at the scene of the attack were not enough to counter the terrorist agents.

They added that the Swedish government would pay for the damages inflicted on the building of the Embassy.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Hassan Qashqavi said on Monday that about 100 protesters who had gathered outside the Iranian Embassy in Stockholm on Friday stormed into the embassy compound and inflicted damages on the building and several cars parked there.

At least three staff members of the Iranian embassy were injured in the incident, he added.
