Bhc chicken to open 8 outlets in U.S. this year

SEOUL, May 31 (Yonhap) -- Bhc chicken, South Korea's largest chicken franchise by sales, said Friday it will open eight bhc chicken stores in the United States this year as part of its expansion strategy.

Bhc chicken has recently opened one of the eight planned bhc chicken outlets in San Diego. In February last year, it opened its first U.S. bhc chicken outlet in Los Angeles.

It currently operates a total of 15 overseas outlets, including the two U.S. ones, two in Thailand, two in Hong Kong, three in Singapore and six in Malaysia.

Bhc Group operates a host of restaurant brands, including the fried chicken franchise bhc chicken, the Korean barbecue franchise Changgo 43 and Outback Steakhouse.

The group is also the South Korean operator of San Francisco-based Super Duper Burgers. There are three Super Duper Burgers stores in Korea.

Bhc chicken earned 535.6 billion won (US$387.6 million) in sales in 2023, up 5.5 percent from 507.5 billion won a year earlier.
