Mikdad, Chinese counterpart discuss strengthening of cooperation between the two countries in all fields
Beijing, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad, met Wednesday Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of People’s Republic of China and member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
During the meeting, bilateral relations and ways of developing them in all fields were discussed, and they stressed the need to promote and strengthen the existing cooperation between the two countries and implement the agreements reached during the important visit of President Bashar al-Assad to the people’s Republic of China last September, which established a strategic partnership between the two friendly countries.
The two ministers also discussed international developments, especially the situation in Gaza Strip, and stressed the need to stop the war immediately and unconditionally, ensure the arrival of humanitarian aid, and put an end to the displacement of Palestinians.
Mikdad stressed Syria’s firm support for China’s fundamental issues and its firm commitment to the One-China principle.
For his part, Minister Wang Yi underlined China’s firm support for Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and its legitimate right to restore its occupied lands in Golan, and China’s standing by its side in fighting the scourge of terrorism.
Minister Wang also stressed China’s constant demand for the United States to respect Syria’s independence and territorial integrity and stop plundering its resources, and called for lifting illegal unilateral measures that undermine the development and prosperity of the peoples of the world, including the Syrian and Chinese Peoples.
Minister Wang praised “the heroic Syrian steadfastness under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad and his insightful vision as a great leader will lead Syria to overcome all difficulties and achieve prosperity for the Syrian people.
He pointed out that Syria is an important party in the Middle East, and without its participation, a comprehensive solution to the conflict in the region will not be achieved.
