Football Association Of Singapore Wishes Malaysian Faisal Halim Speedy Recovery

SINGAPORE, May 9 (Bernama) -- The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) on Thursday wished a swift and full recovery for Harimau Malaya winger Mohamad Faisal Abdul Halim, who is currently recovering from an acid attack.

The FAS said it looked forward to seeing the footballer, better known as Faisal Halim, back on the pitch.

"The FAS stands in solidarity with the Football Asociation of Malaysia (FAM) and condemns any form of violence against players and officials alike," the association posted on its social media page Thursday.

The 26-year-old, affectionately known as "Mickey" to his fans, suffered from fourth-degree burns following the incident at a shopping centre in Petaling Jaya on May 5.

Faisal has undergone two surgeries and is now in the reconstructive phase of his recuperation process, which involves the structural repair and rehabilitation of his body parts.

This is the second incident involving a national footballer after Terengganu FC (TFC) winger Akhyar Rashid suffered injuries to the head and leg after being attacked by two robbers in his housing area in Kuala Terengganu on May 2.

A series of attacks on national footballers continues when two men on a motorcycle used a hammer to break the rear windscreen of Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) player Safiq Rahim's car in Johor Bahru on Tuesday (May 7).
