Hawks' worry on Mark Williams' knee

Hawthorn will learn on Monday the severity of their latest AFL injury concern when
forward Mark Williams undergoes scans on his knee.
Williams suffered a suspected a medial ligament strain at Subiaco Oval on Saturday
night when the Hawks were upset by West Coast.
He will be assessed on Monday but can expect to spend a decent stint on the
sidelines, just as the reigning premiers begin the month that will likely determine
their finals destiny, with matches against the Western Bulldogs, North Melbourne,
Collingwood and Geelong.
The Hawks have endured a wretched season with injuries, which continued against the
Eagles when Stewart Dew (quad) and Stephen Gilham (virus) pulled out beforehand, and
Brent Guerra (thigh), Jordan Lewis (hip) and Xavier Ellis (thigh) played out the
game sore.
Gilham was set to make his return from a knee injury - having played just one game
this season - until he contracted a virus last week.
Fremantle captain Matthew Pavlich is expected to miss two games with a calf tear
after he was injured in Saturday's loss to Collingwood at the MCG.
The Dockers also lost defender Antoni Grover to a corked leg and had Steven Dodd
concussed after he collided with teammate Dean Solomon.
Essendon expect midfielder Jobe Watson to miss two games because of the ankle injury
he suffered in Friday night's big win over Carlton at the MCG.
The Bombers are thankful the injury is not worse, but it does mean the in-and-under
ballgetter will not play in this Friday night's blockbuster against Collingwood.
The Blues will assess defender Paul Bower after he hurt his knee in the third
quarter of Friday night's game.
Western Bulldog Daniel Giansiracusa overcame a rolled ankle and knock to the knee to
return and boot three goals against North Melbourne on Sunday at the MCG.
But young Kangaroo Ben Warren was not as fortunate, as he suffered a broken fibula
in his left leg, which could end his season.
Warren was playing his first game since returning from a fractured cheekbone
suffered against St Kilda in round 11.
