Revisit Brimble inquest findings: Bligh

Matters raised by the inquest into the death of Dianne Brimble aboard a cruise ship
in September 2002 should be re-opened, Queensland Premier Anna Bligh says.
The 42-year-old Brisbane woman died on board the P&O liner Pacific Sky and two men
who were on the cruise face charges over her death, one with manslaughter, the other
with perverting the course of justice.
A third man, Ryan Kim Kuchel, formerly of Sydney's North Shore, earlier this month
was given an 18-month good behaviour bond after pleading guilty in a Sydney court to
making a false and misleading statement to police and hindering their investigation
into her death.
An autopsy found Ms Brimble had ingested a toxic mix of alcohol and the date rape
drug known as fantasy.
Ms Bligh said she was working with NSW Premier Nathan Rees after a request from the
dead woman's husband, Mark Brimble.
"Dianne Brimble's husband has contacted me seeking for some of the recommendations
of the original coroner's inquiry to be made public in relation to cruise shipping
generally," Ms Bligh said on Sunday.
"I support Mr Brimble's request in this regard.
"I have spoken personally to the premier of New South Wales who I know is following
this matter up," Ms Bligh said.
