Ambassador Dahhak: The West prevents Security Council from putting an end to the genocide war in Gaza
New York, SANA-Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Qusay Al-Dahhak,, said that the three permanent Western member states diverted Security Council from its mandate, kept it silent regarding their violations and their allies, and used it as a platform to target other countries, turn against them, and promote baseless allegations.
“The continuing barbaric Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip proves once again the falsity and hypocrisy of polices of western countries regarding concern for human rights and their lack of the minimum elements that qualify them to contribute to maintaining international peace and security,” Ambassador al-Dahhak said Thursday during a Security Council session on the situation in Syria.
He added that the United States and the West continue to prevent the Security Council from halting the genocidal war committed by the Israeli occupation in Gaza Strip and obstructs the Council’s efforts to put an end to the repeated Zionist attacks on Syrian territory and ensure that they are not repeated.
Al-Dahhak went on to say that Western illegal coercive economic measures increase the suffering of the Syrian people, deprive them of basic services, escalate inflation, poverty and unemployment rates, and hinder development financing and the implementation of early recovery projects.
The Syrian diplomat called for ending the illegal foreign presence on Syrian territory, the immediate, complete and unconditional lifting of coercive measures, and the necessity of reviewing the structure of the United Nations’ work in Syria and limiting its mandate and activities to the organization’s offices in Damascus.
