New Zealand PM to Visit Thailand

BANGKOK, March 8 (Bernama) -- New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon will make his official visit to Thailand from April 16 until 18, to strengthen bilateral cooperation and foster closer ties between the two countries.

Thailand's Foreign Ministry in a statement said the visit, at the invitation of his counterpart Srettha Thavisin, would be among others involve bilateral meeting of both Luxon and Srettha.

It said, the visit reflects the close and cordial relations between Thailand and New Zealand.

“It (the visit) will also provide an opportunity for Thailand and New Zealand to deepen mutual cooperation in all areas, particularly in defence and security, economy, clean energy, innovation, education and cultural areas, as well as people-to-people cooperation,” it said in a statement here Monday.

It said the among highlights of the visit would be the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between Thailand and New Zealand agencies and a courtesy call by New Zealand delegation to the Thai Prime Minister.

Thailand’s Foreign Ministry also said, this occasion marks the first official visit to Thailand by a New Zealand  Prime Minister in 11 years.
