US refuses visa to Iran 1st vice-president to attend UN conference
US refused visa to Iran’s first Vice-President Parviz Davoudi to attend a UN conference on global financial crisis, Iran’s ambassador to the UN Mohammad Khazaee said on Friday.
The issue was even echoed in Western media.
Addressing the UN general assembly, Khazaee said he spoke on behalf of Davoudi and the two members of his delegation who failed to take part in the conference.
“Their entry visas were not issued by the host country,” Khazaee added.
An unnamed US official told Western media afterwards that he was looking into the case.
"As the host country to the United Nations, the US has to issue visas for representatives of other countries that are to attend the UN meetings. However, pursuing a political approach, Washington refuses sometimes to do its legal duties and deprives other countries of their legal rights."
