HM King's support for human rights hailed by Arab Parliament Speaker

Cairo, Mar. 16 (BNA): Adel Abdulrahman Al Asoomi, the Arab Parliament Speaker, has affirmed that promoting human rights, tolerance, coexistence and acceptance of others are the cornerstone of the comprehensive development process in Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

 

He praised the efforts of the kingdom to promote and protect human rights, ensure citizens’ dignity, and create a secure and stable environment, positioning the country as a model for security, stability, and coexistence regionally and internationally.

 

In a statement marking the Arab Human Rights Day, Al Asoomi reiterated the importance of promptly ratifying the statute of the Arab Court for Human Rights, a significant initiative supported by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

 

This initiative underscores HM the King's commitment to enhancing the human rights framework within the Arab region, he said.

 

He highlighted Bahrain's significant achievements in human rights under royal patronage with the follow-up of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, emphasising the country's extensive legislative efforts to protect public freedoms and uphold the dignity of its people.

 

Al Asoomi highlighted the Ministry of Interior's Open Prisons Programme, an initiative that focuses on rehabilitation and training of inmates in order to reintegrate into society.

 

This programme aims to enable beneficiaries to lead normal lives and contribute to the development of Bahrain, elevating the country's status in human rights regionally and globally.
