Officials, Experts Stress to QNA Significant Role of Qatar-US Strategic Dialogue in Boosting Bilateral Partnership
Washington, March 05 (QNA) - American officials and experts stressed the significance of the strategic dialogue between the State of Qatar and the United States of America and its important role in reaching consensuses, plans, and joint action programs, the scope of which may extend beyond the borders of the two countries to include other regions of the world, given the great role that Doha plays as a reliable international mediator and a major actor in the global energy market, in addition to Washington's political and military weight globally; all are elements that push to anticipate what the final communique of these meetings will contain.
In their remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), they indicated the role of these periodic consultative meetings in supporting and enhancing bilateral partnership, boosting investment in both countries, in addition to their contribution to formulating solutions to a number of regional and international issues, particularly security and energy.
In this regard, former Charge d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Qatar William Grant told QNA that the strategic dialogue is significant as a tool to strengthen multifaced cooperation between the two countries. He noted the various dialogue axes from political and economic aspects to combating the financing of terrorism, emphasizing the continued knowledge and expertise exchange in areas such as clean energy and encouraging diversified investments.
For her part, Senior Manager at the US Chamber of Commerce Liz Clark noted the major significance of the strategic dialogue as a platform for enhancing the historical and solid relations between the two countries, stressing the chamber’s role in supporting that approach.
She pointed out the unique economic partnership between the State of Qatar and the US for more than 50 years and the growing cooperation in various sectors, such as energy and private investments. She said that the US Chamber of Commerce plays a vital role in enhancing dialogue and bilateral cooperation, especially in light of President Joe Biden’s announcement of Qatar as a major non-NATO ally, affirming the strategic significance of that partnership.
She said that the strategic dialogue between the two countries gives the chance for private and public sectors in both countries to strengthen their cooperation and achieve more success and accomplishments in various sectors. She indicated that it also reflects the mutual commitment of both countries to deepen understanding and cooperation and provide a new opportunity in multiple fields, such as trade, security, energy, education, and culture.
In a similar statement to QNA, Energy Strategist and Foreign Policy Advisor Dr. Umud Shokri said that cooperation between Qatar and the US went beyond the military and security aspects to include various economic fields. He stressed that Qatar has become one of the major economic partners for the US in the Middle East, which increases the significance of the 6th edition of the strategic dialogue between the two countries. In this regard, he said that this edition reflects Qatar’s position as a leading investor in the US economy.
He noted the distinguished economic partnership between the two countries, which has been ongoing for over 50 years, in terms of quality and strength; a fact reflected in the number of American companies operating in Qatar, which exceeded 650 companies active in vital sectors, such as infrastructure, technology, and real estate, in addition to the advanced partnership in the field of energy.
This edition of the strategic dialogue comes two years after the 5th edition that was held in November 2022, which contributed to enhancing bilateral relations and the execution of new and fruitful partnerships. (QNA)
