ASEAN Sec-Gen Tours Business and Climate Marketplace at ASEAN-Australia Special Summit
JAKARTA, March 4 (Bernama) -- ASEAN secretary-general Dr Kao Kim Hourn toured the Business and Climate Marketplace at the Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre in Victoria, Australia, on Monday.
The Marketplace, part of the ongoing three-day ASEAN-Australia Special Summit ending Wednesday, offers information and advisory services alongside the SME Conference and the Climate and Clean Energy Transition Forum.
During the visit, Kao, accompanied by Australia’s Ambassador to ASEAN Tiffany McDonald and the Special Summit Taskforce’s head Pablo Kang, explored the Australia-ASEAN Chamber of Commerce (AustCham ASEAN) booth.
Over 450 participants from various sectors, including Australian government agencies, SMEs, academia, and investors, attended the event, according to the ASEAN Secretariat in a statement.
Kao leads the secretariat delegation to the special summit in Melbourne at the invitation by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
The special summit provides leaders with an opportunity to review ASEAN-Australia relations’ achievements over the last 50 years and exchange views on relevant issues to strengthen the regions’ comprehensive strategic partnership.
During his stay, Kao is scheduled to meet with Albanese, Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong, Australian Trade and Tourism Minister Don Farrell, and New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.
He will also join in several events organised on the sidelines of the special summit to advance ASEAN diplomacy and visibility.
