World Aquatics President Praises World Aquatics Championships - Doha 2024

Doha, February 11 (QNA) - World Aquatics President Dr. Husain Al Musallam has praised the distinguished atmosphere enjoyed by World Aquatics Championships - Doha 2024, which is being held for the first time in the Middle East region, pointing out that the ongoing competitions in the Aspire Dome are held amidst wonderful competition among the participating teams.
Talking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Musallam noted a good start for the short swimming competitions today with a different appearance of some teams such as the South Korean team that won the gold medal in the 400 meter race for the men's category, and the excellence of the New Zealand and Chinese teams, adding that the emergence of new champions enhances the development of swimming in the world.
Al Musallam pointed out that the Italian water polo team qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after defeating the United States team, highlighting the great competition in the diving and artistic swimming competitions that concluded yesterday, in which many teams were able to write their names in the medal records.
He noted the positive results achieved by the Egyptian diving team as well as the success of the Mexican team in synchronized swimming, in addition to the strong return of some swimmers after an absence due to injury and the success in snatching qualification tickets for the Paris Olympics.
The World Aquatics President said the records registered by this edition, with the presence of 2,600 male and female athletes representing 204 countries, are the highest among all editions. (QNA)
