AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023: Qatar Defeats Uzbekistan, Advances to Semi-Finals

Doha, February 03 (QNA) - The Qatar national football team secured their place in the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 semi-finals, after having defeated Uzbekistan at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor this evening by scoring a winning penalty (3-2).
By the end of the regular and extra time, both teams had a tie of 1-1, thanks to Uzbek goalkeeper Utkir Yusupov scoring a goal against his own team at the 27th minute, to Qatar's favor, only to be levelled by Odiljon Hamrobekov's goal for Uzbekistan at the 58th minute.
With this victory, Qatar is qualifying to the AFC Asian Cup semi-finals for the second consecutive time within 11 participations, with the previous semi-final qualification in the UAE 2019 edition, when Qatar came out victorious against Japan in the final (3-1).
As a result of defeating Uzbekistan, the Qatari team will face off their Iranian counterpart, which also qualified earlier today after beating Japan (2-1), with the Qatar-Iran game scheduled for Wednesday at Al Thumama Stadium. (QNA)
